I will not say that disabling SMB1 will keep you safe, but it's one more hurdle to overcome in case of a potential infection. True, FRSM we also use, but this you need to update with file tags etc. I guess I should research it some more now. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out why Explorer kept telling me I didn't have permission to save on that server.īut thanks for reminding me why it was disabled. In fact, it kept me from unzipping an executable from Veeam two days ago.
This is an excellent how-to on using FSRM to guard against it. Now, select User Account s from the menu. Watch out for Wannacry and similar malware!!! If your PC still cannot see shared folders in Windows 10, check the credentials in the computer you are trying to access files from. I'd like to know more about what caused the whole thing, but it's just not a priority for me. I don't know why it just now caused me problems, but re-enabling it fixed my issue. So I'm pretty sure I turned it off back then. Now, some time back everything I read said to disable 1.0 because it was a security risk, I don't recall the details right now. Then I ran across a similar issue and the fix was to enable the SMB 1.0 feature. I could ping any of them, I could manually map a drive and it would work. All of a sudden I could only see about 8 computers out of 50. I had a weird issue similar to this just yesterday, on my own machine.
